Over 1,000 walkers arrived in Albert Square on Sunday 4th May for the Genesis Twilight 10km Walk 2008, despite the terrible weather!!
The event, which was a huge success, could raise in the region of £95,000 for the Genesis Appeal.
If you took part and have not yet collected your sponsorship money, then please hurry! The amount raised is dependent on you.
The start and finish of the event was in Albert Square where the atmosphere was electric.
The event was launched by a number of celebrities:-
Diane Modahl - Olympic athlete and Patron of the Genesis Appeal
Jody Latham - Actor (Shameless and The Fixer)
Rebecca Atkinson - Actor (Shameless)
Nina Warhurst and Nikki Dean from Channel M were our brilliant MC's for the evening and ensured that the crowd interacted with each other on and off the stage.
Walkers warmed up with the help of a short workout performed by fitness instructor, Bobbi-Joe Edwards, who was assisted for a while by his sister, Diane Modahl.
Live music was provided by the extremely talented "Musica" from Leeds College of Music who continued to perform despite the torrential rain.
Hopefully next year the weather will be dry!
