The Genesis Ladies Lunch
The Genesis Ladies Lunch, at Harvey Nichols Restaurant took place on 10th October and raised over £3000. The event was part of The Manchester Food and Drink Festival, which celebrated its 10th anniversary with the help of Genesis as its official charity.
The lunch included a three course meal, specially created for the occasion by Harvey Nichols. The dishes incorporated the major themes from the groundbreaking Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Diet, by Dr Michelle Harvie, who addressed the audience before everyone tucked in! Dr Harvie is the only research dietician in the UK studying the link between lifestyle and breast cancer. Her diet book draws on evidence from Genesis’ researchers and other specialists in nutrition, cancer prevention, and genetics, to explain how women can take control of their lives and reduce their risk of developing the disease.
175 ladies attended the event which featured two guest speakers:-
Post surgery lingerie specialists Betty and Belle, visit www.bettyandbelle.co.uk for more information about their fantastic service.
North-west stylist Martine Alexander, who shared her expertise and showcased this season’s latest looks with the help of four Genesis volunteers and breast cancer patients.

65-year-old breast cancer survivor Jan Bentley, from Gatley, was one of the women who modelled at the lunch. She said: “The Ladies Lunch was a great event. It was such a fantastic feeling to have survived breast cancer and be able to walk down the catwalk at Harvey Nichols. On top of that we raised both awareness and funds for The Genesis Appeal’s vital work.”
The event was organised to celebrate breast cancer awareness month and the fact that Genesis was the chosen charity for the 10th Food & Drink Festival, it was a huge success and everyone involved had a brilliant day.
